Tahreem or Tehreem is the name of a chapter in the Quran and means "prohibition", "prevention", something that's haram (forbidden). It is not a good name since it implies sins and hardship. It is the name of a chapter of the Quran, which is why some people use it, however the name does not refer to a good concept, as the chapter is admonishing the Prophet ﷺ for forbidding himself things that God has made lawful to him.
You are not forbidden from using this name, but we recommend that you do not use it since it doesn't have a good meaning.

I named my daughter Tehreem Fatima. In my language, I was told it means ” sacred “. She is 6 years old now and her name is already on her pass port and other documents. What should I do ? It’s too late to change her name now.

Scholars advise that there is no need to change the name of a person if later it is found out that the name doesn’t have a good meaning. Since she is now known by the name Tehreem, she should keep this name to avoid the hardship of changing it.
When we say a name is not recommended, it only applies to naming new babies.
Since you named her Tehreem thinking it means “sacred”, this is the meaning of the name for her, since a word’s meaning depends on our intention.

I had my name tehreem till I was 8 years old. Tgen my parent consult some big scholars of Pakistan and Saudia and both requested to change it which my parents did alhumdulillah. Itsbetter if someo e has this name change it, because word tehreem is arabic which means forbidden and no parent would like to call their child forbidden 🙂

I would just like to add and clarify that for everyone saying Tahreem is a “good” name because it is in the Quran, please do your research (i.e.- read the translation). Yes, it certainly is in the Quran, but in the Quran, Sūrat at-Taḥreem (Arabic: سورة التحريم) is the Chapter on “Banning, Prohibition”. There are many lessons in the Quran, of good, bad, haraam, and halaal. As scholars have said, please do not give your daughters this name. And Allah knows best.

Assalamalikum dear all. The chapter Surah Tahreem is part of Quran of course. But it is not the rule that anything comes in Quran is good. It depends on situation and tafseer. Abhu Lahab is also mention,feroun is also mentioned. Tahreem means prohibited. Kisi cheez ko apne upar haram karna Jo ki halal hai. Allah Kay pyare Rasool sws. sahed(honey) phir na khane ki baat farmate hai, ki Mai phir sahed(honey) nahi khaonga. Jub Allah subanhu taala ne yah surah nazil Farmaya jis ki shuruwat hi ayesi hui.
