Alaikumassalam wa rahmatullah,

The Sufi personality you are referring to is Ufairah bint al-Waleed al-Basriyyah, who is also known as Ufairah al-Aabidah, who was a woman known for her asceticism and devotion to worshiping Allah. Her name is written as عفيرة in Arabic, which can be read as both Afeera and Ufairah. The original reading is Ufairah. Afeera can be considered a variant of it created by non-Arabs.
