Meaning of Ikrimah
Ikrimah is an Arabic name for boys that means “female pigeon”. Using female words to name boys was a common practice in ancient Arabia and does not create a problem with the name, as evidenced by the fact that it is the name of many companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah upon him and his companions, such as Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl, Ikrimah bin Khalid bin al-Aas, Ikrimah bin Aamir and Ikrimah bin Abdurrahman.
