Meaning of Afrah
Afrah is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means joy, happiness, delight. It is derived from the F-R-H6 root which is used in many places in the Quran:
they are joyful because of what God has bestowed on them of His grace. And they rejoice in the glad tiding given to those they left behind, that they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve. They rejoice in a Grace and a Bounty from Allah, and that Allah will not waste the reward of the believers. (Quran 3:170-171)
Those to whom We sent the Scriptures (the Christians and Jews) are delighted by what has been revealed to you, while some factions deny parts of it. Say to them, ‘I have been commanded only to worship God and not to associate partners with Him: to Him I pray and to Him I shall return.’ (Quran 13:36)

I am a home care nurse taking care of a 93 year old arabic man.He refused calling me my name and instead calls me Afrah. The name has a ‘harmless’ meaning.Thanks God.

My name is Afrah, as a child, l was joyful, extremely happy and loved to laugh. I had an uncle, that would insist on,calling me Farah . I would insist on him, calling me Afrah . He enjoyed teasing me, he then told me that the two names where one in the same Afrah meaning happiness and celebrations and Farah meaning happy
As a 47 yr old when l feel low l remember Allah Subhan Taallah , l remember my late uncle and l remember my joyful, happy soul that had the honour of being named Afrah Al Hamdulilah
