Rufaidah is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “little helper”, “little supporter”. Rufaidah is derived from the R-F-D root which is used in the Quran. It is the name of a sahabiyyah (female peer of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah upon him and his companions), whose full name is Rufaidah al-Ansariyyah and who is famous for acting as a nurse during Islamic battles by providing care for the wounded fighters.
