Meaning of Mukhtar
Mukhtar is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “chosen one”, “chosen by Allah”. It is also one of the names of Prophet Muhammad. It is derived from the KH-Y-R root which is used in many places in the Quran.
And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment. And when the earthquake seized them, he said, “My Lord, if You had willed, You could have destroyed them before and me [as well]. Would You destroy us for what the foolish among us have done? This is not but Your trial by which You send astray whom You will and guide whom You will. Growing up as “Mukhtar” meant there was never ever another kid with the same name. I was always special.

My father was called mukhtar. True leader and ruler he was. Hence why InshaAllah I will name my son after him one day
