Full Meaning of Eibraheem
Eibraheem is the name of one of the most important prophets in the Quran. Among his descendants are Prophet Ismaeel, Ishaaq, Yaqoob, Yusuf, Musa, Haroon, Zakaria, Yahya, Isa, and our prophet Muhammad, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and all the prophets and messengers.
Prophet Eibraheem‘s name is mentioned at least 70 times in the Quran, signifying his great importance. He is the only human being who is an “intimate friend” of God, as the Quran testifies in Surat an-Nisaa 4:125:
And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Eibraheem, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.
The Quran praises the qualities of prophet Eibraheem in many places, such as:
Indeed Eibraheem is most forbearing and tenderhearted, always intent on returning (to Allah). {Surat Hud 11:75}
The meaning of Eibraheem is not clear as it is an ancient name from non-Arabic origins.
