Assalamu alaikum. My only son’s name is samar. I picked the name from a quranic verse of surah Al baqara which is actually “Th’samar”. Which there literally means “a fruit of” or “a product of”… But later I found out that it’s an ancient Hindi name as well where samar means battle and represents a war commander, Samarasanga. Then in Arabic it also means an evening conversation with a background music or poem. It’s also derived from the ancient Hebrew word shamar which means to preserve. That’s all I know… And Allah knows best 🙂
