Ashas, pronounced [(U)p + (SH)op] + [(U)p + (S)weet] (there is a pause between the two syllables, as in Ash-As, but you can also pronounce it without the pause if you like), is a non-Quranic name for boys that means "firm", "stable", "unshakable". It is written as أشعث in Arabic and can also be written as Eshes, Ashaas, Ashaath, Ashath in English. The final sound is a th as in thing, but people, including Arabs, pronounce it as s as in sweet for ease.
