Full Meaning of Iykhaa
Iykhaa is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “brotherhood” and “sisterhood”, for people to love one another like brothers, or like sisters. It is derived from the A-KH-A root which is used in many places in the Quran:
Believers are each other’s brothers. Restore peace among your brothers. Have fear of God so that perhaps you will receive mercy. (Quran 49:10)
AND REMEMBER that brother of [the tribe of] Ad, how – seeing that [other] warnings had already come and gone within his own knowledge as well as in times beyond his ken – he warned his people [who lived] among those sand-dunes: “Worship none but God! Verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!” (Quran 46:21)
There is not upon the blind [any] constraint nor upon the lame constraint nor upon the ill constraint nor upon yourselves when you eat from your [own] houses or the houses of your fathers or the houses of your mothers or the houses of your brothers or the houses of your sisters or the houses of your father’s brothers or the houses of your father’s sisters or the houses of your mother’s brothers or the houses of your mother’s sisters or [from houses] whose keys you possess or [from the house] of your friend. There is no blame upon you whether you eat together or separately. But when you enter houses, give greetings of peace upon each other – a greeting from Allah, blessed and good. Thus does Allah make clear to you the verses [of ordinance] that you may understand. (Quran 24:61)
