Full Meaning of Guayria
Guayria is an Arabic name for girls. It can come from two different roots with different meanings and origins. The first name is Quranic, while the second name is more commonly used:
1. Guayria, pronounced [(J)ump + p(U)t] + [(WAY)] + [(RI)pple] + [(YU)mmy] with emphasis on WAY, is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “young woman”, it is a loving nickname for a girl who is approaching maturity. It is derived from the J-R-A root (“to flow”), which is used in many places in the Quran.
Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place. (Quran 18:31)
2. Juwayreeya, pronounced [(J)ump + p(U)t] + [(WAY)] + [p(R)ay + s(EE)] + [(YU)mmy] with emphasis on REE (the third syllable), is an Arabic name for girls that means “Damask rose”, which is one of the most fragrant types of rose, used in perfume making. The name is derived from Jooriyyah, which means “from Joor”. Joor is the Arabic pronunciation of the name of Goor, which is the ancient name of the city of Firuzabad in the Pars Province of Iran. Thus the name means “rose of Firuzabad”, likely because the rose was found in this city or produced there in the past. Juwayreeya was the name of one of the wives of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, whose full name was Juwayriyya bint al-Harith, and who married the Prophet at age 20 in the year 628 CE. Jwayreeya is not a Quranic name, but Muslims can use it since it has a good meaning and history.
You can use either of the above two names. What distinguishes the two is the emphasis, in the first one emphasis is on the second syllable, while in the second name the emphasis is on the third syllable. Most Arabs do not concern themselves with distinguishing the two names and use them interchangeably. In Arabic writing, the first name is written as جويرية, while the second one is written as جويريّة. As you can see, only a small symbol distinguishes the two names, and in Arabic writing this symbol is often omitted.
