Meaning of Dua

Dua is a name for girls that’s directly mentioned in the Quran at least 16 times. It means prayer, supplication, a call made to Allah for His help and care.

Lord, grant that I may keep up the prayer, and so may my offspring. My Lord, accept my prayer. (Quran 14:40)

Do not treat being called by the Messenger like being called by one another. God knows those of you who slip away on some pretext. Let those who go against his order beware lest some affliction befall them or they receive a painful punishment. (Quran 24:63)

Man never tires of praying for the good things of life; but if bad fortune befalls him, he abandons all hope, giving himself up to despair. (Quran 41:49)
