Full Meaning of Yukub

Yukub (Jacob) is a direct Quranic name for boys that refers to one of the prophets of the Quran, whose name is mentioned 16 times in the Quran. Yukub is an ancient name that means “successor”, “heir”, “following”, as mentioned in the Bible. Its meaning is not mentioned in the Quran.

We gave him Ishaak and Yukub and granted prophethood and the Book to his descendants. We gave him his reward in this life and in the Hereafter he shall dwell among the righteous. (Quran 29:27)
