Meaning of Abbad

Abbad (also spelled Abaad) is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “devout servant of Allah”, “devout worshiper of Allah”. It is the intensive form of the Arabic verb ʿabada (“he worshiped”)1, thus connoting long-lasting and intense worship and service in the way of Allah. Abbad is derived from the ʿ-B-D root which is one of the most common roots in the Quran.

Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself upon the Throne, directing all affairs. There is no intercessor except after His permission. That is Allah, your Lord, so worship Him. Will you not then remember? (Quran 10:3)

And if Allah touches you with harm, there is no remover of it except Him. And if He intends good for you, there is no repeller of His bounty. He causes it to reach whomever He wills of His servants, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. (Quran 10:107)
