Full Meaning of Rifa’a

Rifa’a is an Arabic name for boys and girls that means “greatness”, “highness of status” according to many sources, though it is a non-standard derivation from the word rafa’a (“he became elevated”). It is the name of many companions of the Prophet, both male and female, such as Rifa’a al-Ansari, Rifa’a al-Badri, Rifa’a bin Aws, and the Sahabiyyah Rifa’a bint Thabit bin al-Faakih.
