Meaning of Ayah
Ayah is a direct Quranic name for girls that means “sign”, “clue”, and in the Islamic tradition it means “sign of God’s existence”, “sign of God’s greatness”, and also means “verse of the Quran”, since the verses of the Quran are considered signs of God’s existence and greatness. The word Ayah is used about 80 times in the Quran.
God sends down water from the sky and with it revives the earth when it is dead. There is truly a sign in this for people who listen. (Quran 16:65)
And We have already sent messengers before you. Among them are those [whose stories] We have related to you, and among them are those [whose stories] We have not related to you. And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of Allah. So when the command of Allah comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all]. (Quran 40:78)

I was told the name Ayah can’t be used for a baby. I really would like to give my baby this name but I would like to know If there is any truth to this.
Is this one of the names that we can’t give to a baby?

@3: ِAyah is an acceptable name. here is a fatwa [Arabic] from IslamWeb (which is operated by scholars from the Qatari Islamic Affairs Ministry) that says the name Ayah is permissible.

My baby girl Aiyah is really a sign of the greatness of allah (swt) I was told I couldn’t carry a child and I prayed every namaz every ibaada every iftar that if it was meant to be then may allah bless me with a healthy baby . I had 2 miscarriages and a still born, may allah keep them safe and happy till I can reunite. But then alhumdulliah last week allah blessed me with a beautiful healthy and happy baby girl whom I named Aiyah Sabr x sabr to remind me to keep patience coz allah truly does have a plan.
