I carry the name of my great-grandfather, Bejzat. He himself belonged to the Yuruk, his ancestors also belong to such a tribe and they settled centuries ago in Ottoman Macedonia.
I’m just wondering where the origin of the name Bejzat is from. The only names that are remotely similar are “Behzat / d” or “Ba / eyzid”. I think it probable that over time the proper pronunciation of the name has gone down and the name has been mispronounced.
Maybe someone of you can help me out and know something I do not know.
