Zul Faqar is an Arabic name for boys that was the name of the sword of Ali bin Abi Talib, cousin of the Prophet, peace be upon him and his companions, and 4th leader of the Muslims after the Prophet. The word means “that which has vertebrae” (vertebrae being the bones in a person’s back, also known as the spinal column), it is said because the sword’s blade had grooves (there are also many other interpretations for this word).
