Hamza or Hamzah is an Arabic name for boys that means “lion”. It also means “competent”, “capable”. It is the name of Prophet Muhammad’s uncle, Hamza bin Abdulmutallib (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon them), for this reason it is a common Muslim name.

Hamza is not a Quranic name but Muslim can use it since it has a good meaning. Hamza is pronounced [(HUM)] + [(Z)ero + r(U)n] and is written as حمزة in Arabic.
