Waail

A Quranic Name for Boys

Meaning: Clan and Tribe

Waail is variant of Wael and has the exact same meaning and pronunciation (see below for full meaning). You can use either Waail or Wael, both are correct and acceptable. If you like this variant more and you'd like to pronounce it the way it is spelled (different than the original name), this is perfectly acceptable. For more details please see the main entry at: Wael.

Full Meaning of Waail

Waail is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “one who takes refuge”, “tribe”. It is the name of some companions of the Prophet ﷺ, such as Waail al-Qail and Waail bin Abil Qu’ais. Waail is derived from the W-HAMZ-L root which is used in the Quran in Surat al-Kahf.

And your Lord is the Forgiving, full of mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. Rather, for them is an appointment from which they will never find a refuge. (Quran 18:58)
