Full Meaning of Siyaam

Siyaam is a direct Quranic name for boys and girls that means “fasting” (to refrain from eating for a period of time), which is a practice followed by Muslims throughout the month of Ramadan. The word Siyaam is used nine times in the Quran.

O you who believe! fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard (against evil). (Quran 2:183)
