    Seera is a female name, among the Bamasaaba community that live around Mt. Elgon – at the border area between Kenya and Uganda. The oral history has it that Bamasaaba originated from Misri (Egypt) and settled there. Seera is one of the key figures of the ancestry and is believed to have been one of the founding queens of the community. Married to Mwambu, she is said to have origins of the modern Kalenjin community, who live in the eastern Rift Valley. It’s a name found among the Luhya community as well, who are akith to the Bamasaaba.
