Assalamu alaikum Can you please let me know the root letters that make up the name Yusha' [the Prophet who followed Musa (ahs)], and also the meaning of this name? Jazakumullaah khair.

Answer

This is an official answer by QuranicNames.com Staff

Alaikumassalam wa rahmatullah,

Yusha' is not an Arabic word, for this reason it doesn't have Arabic root letters. It is a Hebrew word. Yusha' is the Arabic way of referring to the Biblical character known as Joshua in English. The meaning of Yusha'/Joshua is "God is salvation", which is a good meaning, therefore Muslims can use this name.
