Qyaam
A Quranic Name for Boys and Girls
Qyaam is variant of Qiyam and has the exact same meaning and pronunciation (see below for full meaning). You can use either Qyaam or Qiyam, both are correct and acceptable. If you like this variant more and you'd like to pronounce it the way it is spelled (different than the original name), this is perfectly acceptable. For more details please see the main entry at: Qiyam.
Full Meaning of Qyaam
Qyaam is an Arabic name for boys and girls that means “to stand up late at night to pray”. The word is used in many places in the Quran, such as 25:64.
There is another Arabic word, written as قِيَم in Arabic and as Qyaam in English which means “values”, a person’s principles or standards and what he/she considers important in life. This word is pronounced [Ira(QI)] + [(YUM)my] with emphasis on the first syllable. This too is an acceptable name for both boys and girls, and it is used in the Quran, in verse 6:165.
