    It is an Islamic name. It means “sweet flower” based on the sweet smell of the narcissus flower.

    In India, they spell it Nargis or Nargeese. Personally, I think Narjis looks nicer and sounds prettier with a J sound versus a G.

    Narjis is the Arabized version of the name Nargis/Narges which comes from Persian. It’s borrowed by Indians and Pakistanis too.

    Arabic lacks the letter G گ, it replaced it with the letter ج j.
