I want a boy name from the Quran with good meaning. Is Aluf a name from the Quran?

Answer

This is an official answer by QuranicNames.com Staff

For boy name recommendations, please look at our site and use the search box, you will find lots of names that you might like.

Aluf, pronounced [(U)p] + [(LOO)se + (F)lower], is an indirect Quranic word that means "close friend", "beloved friend", it comes from the A-L-F root which is used in the Quran. Due to the similarity of this name with the English word aloof (which means "unfriendly", "distant"), and its similarity to the Israeli military's word for "general" (Aluf), I don't recommend using this name for a child if you live in a Western country. But you may be able to use this in India, Pakistan, or another Middle Eastern/Central Asian country without an issue.
