Ahad is an acceptable name for Muslims. al-Ahad is one of the names of Allah, but without the al- at the beginning, it becomes a general word that can be used as a name. It is the same as al-Ali, which is a name of Allah and when you turn it into Ali, it becomes an acceptable baby name.
