Full Meaning of Ihkaam

Ihkaam is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “excellence”, “mastery”, “decisiveness”. It is derived from the H6-K-M root which is also the root for one of the most important names of Allah, al-Hakeem (the Wise). It is used in the Quran in hundreds of places.

They replied: “Limitless art Thou in Thy glory! No knowledge have we save that which Thou hast imparted unto us. Verily, Thou alone art all-knowing, truly wise.”

Our Lord, send forth to them a messenger of their own to recite Your revelations to them, to teach them the Scripture and wisdom, and purify them. You are the Mighty, the Wise One.’ (Quran 2:129)
