Full Meaning of Ibtisameh

Ibtisameh is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “smile”, a smile on a person’s lips. It is a variant of Ibtisam, but their meanings are different. Ibtisam means “to smile”, the act of smiling, while Ibitisama means “smile”, the smile that can be seen on a person’s lips. It is derived from the B-S-M root which is used in the Quran in 27:19:

Solomon smiled broadly at its words and said, ‘Lord, inspire me to be thankful for the blessings You have granted me and my parents, and to do good deeds that please You; and include me, by Your grace, among Your righteous servants!’ (Quran 27:19)
