Full Meaning of Hooree

Hooree (also spelled in English dictionaries as Houri) is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “splendid companion of Paradise”, “lovely-eyed”, “with modest gaze”, and in general use it means “extremely beautiful”. Hooree is the Persian and Turkish way of referring to the companions of Paradise, which is the shortened form of the Arabic word Hooreeyah. It is derived from the H6-W-R root which is used in a number of places in the Quran.
