Meaning of Hilal
Hilal refers to the moon when it is in its crescent shape in the early days of the lunar month. According to al-Razī, Hilal technically refers to the moon on the first three days of the lunar month, and after that the usual name for the moon, qamar, is used to call the moon by.1 Hilal also means “a handsome young lad”.2 Hilal also has the meaning of “rain shower” and “the first rain”, which perhaps refers to the first rain of the year, which is an important occurrence in Arabia where rain is rare and normally happens only during a specific period of the year.3 It also means “grappling iron”, a tool used to attach two ships together.4

So it is Arabic but not from the Quran itself.
Shouldn’t it be written that the meaning of “Crescent Moon” is a reference to the moon of Eid.
