Full Meaning of Faranghis

Faranghis is a Persian name for girls. It is the name of a character in the Shahnameh epic, who was the daughter of Afrasiab and was engaged to Siyavash. The name could formed from Far (Persian for “glory”, “honor”, “greatness”) and angis (possibly a variant of angiz, which means “one who brings something about”, “one who causes and motivates”), thus the full meaning would be “bringer of glory”, “cause for greatness”. But this is speculative, we cannot find any authentic sources for the original meaning of this ancient name.
