Ebhar is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means breadth, graciousness, open like the ocean. It also means navigation and sailing in the ocean. It is derived from the B-H6-R root (ocean), which is used dozens of times in the Quran.

It is He who has set up for you the stars so that you might be guided by them in the midst of the darkness of land and sea. We have made the signs clear for people who want to understand. (Quran 6:97)
