Full Meaning of Calel

Calel means intimate friend, close companion. It is mentioned three times in the Quran.

And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend. {4:125}

[Prophet], the disbelievers tried to tempt you away from what We revealed to you, so that you would invent some other revelation and attribute it to Us, and then they would have taken you as an intimate friend. (17:73)

And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, “Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way. Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a close friend. He led me away from the remembrance [of Allah] after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter. And the Messenger has said, “O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Quran as [a thing] abandoned.” (25:27-30)
