Meaning of Raees

Raees is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “president”, “boss”, “leader”, “master”, “the best man among a group of men”. It is derived from the R-HAMZ-S (“head”, “main”) root which is used in many places in the Quran.

And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said, “How wretched is that by which you have replaced me after [my departure]. Were you impatient over the matter of your Lord?” And he threw down the tablets and seized his brother by [the hair of] his head, pulling him toward him. [Aaron] said, “O son of my mother, indeed the people oppressed me and were about to kill me, so let not the enemies rejoice over me and do not place me among the wrongdoing people.”

This is one of the few names me and my wife could agree on for our first. can I please ask anyone reading this to pray that my intention in naming my boy to come be accepted Inshallah.
I like this name 1 – because the meaning “leader” appeals to me and I can base my understanding or intention on naming him this as it is a quality a lot of the Prophets had, 1st of all the last Prophet, Nabi Mohammad peace and blessing of Allah be upon him and then off the top of my head, Nabi Yusuf (AS) in his role as treasurer for the egyptian king, Prophet Dawood and his son Sulaimaan (AS), Nabi Ebrahim (AS) who I consider to be a leader of thought and his son Ismail (AS) a leader in the way he showed patience and cooperation to his father and discipline and “strength of self” and in the same way Nabi Ayyub (AS) who had ultimate faith and was no doubt a leader in the way his belief was unwavering even when his own wife doubted he’ll be cured (I really want my son to be that strong, for his siblings and his mother if Allah takes me away early Inshallah), other than that I haven’t read enough Qur’aan to know too much about other prophets, but figures like Luqmaan, who was wise and had good character mashaa’allah and Dhil Qarnain, the guy who saved a people from the Ya’Juj and Ma’Juj, I really want the meaning of his name to reflect leadership in all these things and no doubt in the perfect character of our prophet Mohammad peace be upon him, I’d love for my son to work on his character as I am trying to change my own, hopefully Allah will guide me as a father and a husband and breadwinner to give my boy a headstart in his quest for these things Inshallah
PLEASE SAY AMEEN I BEG OF YOU
and 2 – because it has a mysterious sound to it (my wife loves the sound) and me too, I’m glad it has a strong meaning

I chose this name Raees for my second baby boy. The meaning appealed to me as I want it to be a reminder for my son to lead with passion pride and dignity . My son is pronounced Ryees/Rayees but not reece/rays. Tho his nickname is “mummy’s little ray of sunshine ☀️“
