Full Meaning of Amitis
Amitis is the name of a Persian princess (known as Amitis of Media), who was the daughter of the king of the Medes (who were an ancient Persian people). She married Nebuchadnezzar II, king of Babylon, at the request of her father. Nebuchadnezzar built the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the seven wonders of ancient world, for her. The name may originally come from the Avestan (an ancient Persian language) word humaiti, which means “one who has good thought”.
