Full Meaning of Mounir

Mounir is a direct Quranic name for boys that means “illuminating”, “illulminated”, “enlightening”, “brilliant”. Verse 3:184 is the first of six Quranic mentions:

Then if they deny you, [O Muhammad] – so were messengers denied before you, who brought clear proofs and written ordinances and the enlightening Scripture. {3:184}

Exalted is He who put constellations in the heavens, a radiant light, and an illuminating moon. {25:61}

O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And one who invites to Allah, by His permission, and an illuminating lamp. And give good tidings to the believers that they will have from Allah great bounty. And do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites but disregard their harm and rely upon Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. (33:45-48)

And [that they will know] that the Hour is coming – no doubt about it – and that Allah will resurrect those [who are] in the graves. And of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening scripture. Twisting his neck [in arrogance] to mislead [others] from the way of Allah. For him in the world is disgrace, and We will make him taste on the Day of Resurrection the punishment of the Burning Fire. [It will be said], ‘That is for what your hands have put forth and because Allah is not ever unjust to [His] servants.’ (22:7-10)
