Özil, also written as Ozil, is a Turkish name that means "real country", "genuine land" according to Turkish websites. This is obviously the last name of the Muslim footballer Mesut Özil, but it is not an "Islamic" name (related to Islamic culture or from the Quran), but since it has a good meaning, Muslims can use it.
