Maarij means "mixture" or "strong blaze of fire." Maarij is a male noun, such nouns aren't usually used as names for girls (though they can be), rather they are made feminine by adding "ah" to the end, thus Maarijah, which makes it a girl's name.
I haven't seen Maarij or Maarijah used as names by Arabs, though Desi people seem to use it. You can use it inshAllah as the meaning is acceptable.
