Mawaddah is a Quranic name for girls that means love, affection, sympathy, compassion, harmony. It is mentioned in a number of places in the Quran, such as the famous “Among His Signs” verse:

Another of His signs is that He created for you from among yourselves spouses, so that you might find repose in them, and He created between you love and kindness. Truly there are signs in this for people who reflect. (Quran 30:21)
