On Root Counts

The Quranic Root Count refers to the number of times the root of a Quranic name has been mentioned in the Quran. As an example, the names Muhammad, Ahmad, Mahmood, and Hamda all derive from one single root, H-M-D, and the Quranic root count refers to the number of times all words deriving from H-M-D have been mentioned and used in the Quran.

The root count of a Quranic name should not be considered the factor that decides the importance and virtue of a name. The most important fact about a name is that it is mentioned in the Quran.
