Rafiq is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “friend”, “companion”, “gentle”, “good mannered.” It is derived from the R-F-Q root which is used in a number of places in the Quran.
And he who obeys Allah and the Messenger -they shall be with those whom Allah has favoured -the Prophets, those steadfast in truthfulness, the martyrs, and the righteous.” How excellent will they be for companions! (Quran 4:69)
