Aqdas or Akdas, spelled as أقدس in Arabic, means "purer", "holier". It is not usually used by Sunni Muslims because Sunni scholars do not recommend using words that refer to holiness to name human beings. But it seems to be a common name among the Shiite (especially Iranians).
