Mobdia

A Quranic Name for Girls

Meaning: Smart, Creative and Innovative

Mobdia is variant of Mubdia and has the exact same meaning and pronunciation (see below for full meaning). You can use either Mobdia or Mubdia, both are correct and acceptable. If you like this variant more and you'd like to pronounce it the way it is spelled (different than the original name), this is perfectly acceptable. For more details please see the main entry at: Mubdia.

Full Meaning of Mobdia

Mobdia means inventor, innovator, a creative person who makes or finds useful new things. Mobdia is an indirect Quranic name, it is not directly mentioned in the Quran, but it is derived from the root B-D-AIN, which is used in the Quran and is also the root for one of the 99 names of God (Badee` – The Originator).

the Originator of the heavens and the earth! How could it be that He should have a child without there ever having been a mate for Him – since it is He who has created everything, and He alone knows everything? (Quran 6:101)

The word “innovation” has a negative connotation in Islamic literature, if you are worried that this name would have a relation to that, you can rest assured that it doesn’t. That would Mubtadi’ah, not Mobdia.  There is a negative word in Islamic literature, bid`ah, which means an innovation in religion, when a person falsely adds something or changes something in the Islamic religion. Such a person is called Mubtadi, and if female Mubtadi’ah. As for Mobdia, its meaning is general innovation and creativity and is not related to bid’ah (but they both derive from the B-D-AIN root, which, as mentioned, is also the root for one of the 99 names of Allah).
