Arafah is an Arabic name for girls (also used for boys) that refers to a mountain near Mecca that pilgrims visit. The word means “introduction”, referring to the fact that people used to gather there and be introduced to other people during pilgrimage. Arafah is pronounced [(U)p] + [p(R)ay + r(U)n] + [(FU)n].
