Meaning of Irfana
Irfana is an indirect Quranic name for girls that means “word of wisdom”, “wisdom”, “knowledge”. It is derived from the AIN-R-F Quranic root.
Those to whom We have given the Scriptures know this [Quran] as they know their own sons. But those who have ruined their souls will not believe. (Quran 6:20)
Irfana is not a standard Arabic word. The original word is Irfan (knowledge in Arabic), which in Persian started to be regarded as (knowledge, wisdom, words of wisdom), and from this Irfana was formed as the singular form of Irfan, to mean “one word of wisdom”, “an example of wisdom”.
